Six More Days of School

With six days to go, school (technically "preschool") is winding down quickly which means that I'm snapping pictures like crazy in an attempt to memorize as much as I can about the year and the life of my favorite 5 year old boy.

Easter Morning

Baker, our notoriously picker eater, wasn't sure about his first Peep.

As it turns out, he really liked the Peeps - dipped in chocolate, of course.

Ski Trip 2011

After a rough first day on the slopes, Baker mastered his anxiety (with the help of a GREAT instructor) and took off on day two. He rode the chair lift and skied greens the rest of the trip. Baker was so proud of himself. Kevin was thrilled. I was relieved we didn't make a trip to the ER. Success!!!

Love

As I put B to bed, after a very trying last hour of the day (thanks to handwriting homework and my lack of teaching ability), I told him I was sorry I wasn't my best tonight. And he said, "I love you any way you are."

Pass the Kleenex.
He is the sweetest boy on earth.

Goodbye Daddy

After a week in the city it was time to go home to Tulsa, reunite with the dogs and get ready for Christmas. Baker and I left on Dec. 22 and Kevin came home on the 23rd.

Earlier this summer we started leaving "love" notes when we went back to Tulsa. And now Kevin leaves one for Baker every time he leaves Tulsa for Chicago. Baker loves to hide his notes and likewise, Kevin hides notes for B.
It's a really sweet tradition that we sort of stumbled upon -- bittersweet, but in a really good way.

Left and below: I took a couple of quick pics of B penning his note... I love the wobbly handwriting of a 4 y.o. boy.

Snow on the Rooftop

I love these pictures.

Baker was thrilled to go outside and play in the snow - never mind that we were on a roof and it was windy, gray and freezing. He ran outside and threw himself face down in a snow drift. I tried not to think about potential dog poop and pigeon poop lurking underneath - especially as he kept eating handfuls of (white!) snow.

The third pic is my favorite. I love the snowy skyline.
