Kitchen Facelift

When we bought our 1920's house, we were relieved that the previous owners had recently renovated the kitchen. Well, that was then...and this is now: I despise the former owners because they designed (purchased and installed!) a ridiculous kitchen. No pantry. No storage. Rickety, brown cabinets. NO LIGHTING. Crappy tile. AGGGH! It makes my skin itch a little when I think about it. So here we are. Ten months later. And we're beginning to work on the kitchen. Progress update: The ceiling fan came down today. The boob light was replaced with a pendant from Restoration Hardware. (Those lovely people understand my idea of a fabulous kitchen.) We're making progress...and I have a photo of the ladder and the DUST to prove it.

Family

Kylee will likely have a meltdown when she sees that I posted this picture. (I decided to ask for forgiveness instead of permission.) She doesn't like the photo but I think she looks gorgeous. Look at her blue eyes!! Clearly, I am right! Sorry Kylee...but one day you'll look back on this and realize how beautiful you are.

School Starts Tomorrow

Second annual ice cream social. The special occasion marks the end of summer and the beginning of school. I hosted the "party" last year. Braum's hosted this year.
As usual, the kids were marginally cooperative during the photo session.

Baker and Anna

The Anderson girls were in town for a few hours this week. Lucky for us, Anna came over and played with Baker all afternoon. She is a treasure! Pretty. Sweet. Funny. Brilliant. We'd love to move her in immediately!

Fireworks, Friends and Family

We celebrated July 4th with friends at Cedar Creek. We enjoyed an all-American celebration complete with sack races, three-legged races, tug-of-war, and of course, fireworks...lots and lots of fireworks. Thanks to the George's for hosting a perfect holiday weekend!

Below: Baker's sack race...he received a third place ribbon. Judge for yourself. Personal best!

I'm figuring out the difference between a movie and a slide show on Picasa. This is a little rough but I'm getting the hang of things.

Baker and James Henry were crowd favorites in the three-legged race. If you don't believe me just ask Baker, the owner of another third place ribbon.

Big Boy

I took this picture about two minutes before Baker fell in the potty (literally) which led to a quick dash upstairs and straight into the bathtub. He looked terribly cute (and painfully grownup) right before the big splash.
