Tulsa State Fair

We went to the Tulsa State Fair today. We had a fantastic time -- at one point I think I actually heard myself say something along the lines of..."I can't wait to take Baker to Disney World!"

(Above) Baker's first ride: the swings. I rode with him later and loved sitting beside my favorite, fearless toddler.

(Below) This was the most dilapidated, and also Baker's favorite ride...

(Below) These photos perfectly illustrate the end of our day: ice cream, corn dogs and protesting when we had to go home.

Sandbox

We took time out from unpacking to have a little fun in the sandbox...

Big Boy Bed

Baker loves his big boy bed! His room is still a work in progress --mostly we're just so happy that his bedroom has space for all of his toys. I'll post pics when the mural is complete...giraffes and alligators coming soon!!

Growth Chart

We hated to see this go...Kylee's growth chart. I'd like to think this will stay at the Norfolk house forever and that the new owner won't paint the basement wall. Somewhere on the chart Kylee wrote, "I want to be this tall some day." After we moved back from Arkansas she had grown way beyond that mark. After taking a quick picture, Kevin traced and transcribed the wall. I hope Kylee knows how much her dad adores every foot and inch of her.

Moving Day

Friday is the big day. The movers will meet Kevin at our storage unit/shed (what is the right word to describe this money pit?) before coming to our house to load the truck. Moving one mile is certainly easier than across state lines but moving is moving. And we all know the chaos it entails. I've only had a few flashbacks...

My sister was here Sunday and Monday moving mountains and boxes and everything not nailed down. (Total life saver!) My parents arrived today and will stay until Halloween...or at least until Sunday. (Yea Nonnie and Peas!) Baker is thoroughly enjoying all the hoopla. And he can't wait to hang his new bird feeder at the new house. We have to wait for the rain to stop so he's keeping a close watch on the weather.

The dogs are going a little nuts. They're pacing and barking and carrying on like we're going to forget them. Baker is staying busy consoling them -- which for the moment, is taking his mind off the bird feeder... Until he thinks of peanut butter, which reminds him of birdseed, which reminds him of his new bird feeder, etc. etc.

The next blog will be from our new house...boxes, dogs, birds and all.

Men at Work

This is the view from our front porch. Apparently road construction requires every conceivable piece of machinery. Baker would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to the City of Tulsa for the "free" entertainment.

New House

The main reason I fell in love with our new house is the split staircase (a.k.a. saddleback staircase). There is a nice foyer...and then the stairs...and it just felt so right.

View from the dining room looking into the sunroom (soon to be navy instead of yellow...)
